feeling: like I don't want to study
listening to: Mononoke Hime ending theme

Here's some useless facts. Just cause they're useless.

~Elvis Presley's dog tag number was 53310761.
~Lemons contain more sugar than strawberries.
~A jiffy is an actual unit of time for 1/1000 of a second. (I dunno about Dumplin', but this makes our grandma make a little more sense to me now :P)
~In China, the dark shadows forming a face on the moon are seen as "the toad in the moon", not "the man in the moon".
~Jingle Bells was originally written for Thanksgiving.
~One in every 4 Americans has appeared on television. (that includes me...woot)
~In 1996, a play-by-play of Super Bowl XXX was broadcast in the Navajo language for the first time. (what a sad, sad age we live in...)
~Human thigh bones are stronger than concrete. If you stand one upright, it can support the weight of two young elephants. Not that you'll ever get an elephant to stand on an upright bone, let alone get a second elephant to stand on the first one. But you get the point.
~Thomas Edison, the inventor of the light bulb, was afraid of the dark. (oooh, isn't that inspiring?)
~Marie Osmond's real first name is Olive.
~Scientists say that sex can relieve arthritis pain for up to 6 hours.

There you go. These are courtesy of my calendar, which has a different useless fact printed on each day's block and which has a bull moose as this month's picture. Blah. I want February back. That snow leopard rocked.

So my new addiction seems to be Mononoke Hime, one of the two or three most popular anime movies of all time. Another that comes to mind is Grave of the Fireflies. I really wanna see that. Anyhow, Mononoke is just... *smooch* Awesome awesome. Gillian Anderson and Claire Danes did a sweet, sweet job. I've actually had the movie, dubbed, for almost a year now, but I got to see it for the first time in months on an Encore Action channel over the weekend, and for some reason that viewing was the catalyst. And guess what? A new obsession means a new fanfic attempt. *slaps self* Yes, I've completed just over two chapters of a Mononoke Hime fanfic, as yet untitled. Let's see if I actually finish this one. I didn't set out with the intent of making a freaking novel (as I usually do, sadly), but... it just might turn out that way. Because I have no idea at what point in the timeline I want to have it end. Anyway, it's fun so far. The main character is Moro, the too awesome giant two-tailed white wolf goddess. Cause she rocks. I also got to throw in some Forest Spirit dialog in chapter 2, which was interesting because he doesn't speak in the movie. But oh well. I needed his voice, for my purposes. Maybe I'll go back later and clarify that he's actually kinda just mentally projecting speech, not physically producing it, as I think all the animal gods do. Oh, another place I might end up adding stuff that wasn't in the story: I might, MIGHT, give San's two wolf-brothers names. Don't know. If they had names in the movie, they weren't mentioned in the dub. But since they look identical and are pretty much... well, identical... I might have to name them for my own sanity's sake. We'll see.
