feeling: ok
listening to: TV

Just so all are aware, OhayoCon was very, very fun.

Friday Dumplin' arrived at my dorm shortly after 5 pm, and her dad gave us a lift to the hotel, where we signed in and began by checking out Artist's Alley, where non-professional artsy folks can set up tables to sell anime-style caricatures, commissions, comics, shirts, and other self-designed merchandise. Didn't get to buy anything outside of that because the dealer's room closed within minutes of our arrival, so we just wandered around enjoying the spectacle of people dressed up in ridiculous costumes. Our personal favorite was... Kuja. *listens to Dumplin' cackling back in Chilli-town* We each got a pic of him, but because his costume was so complete and perfect (i.e., he was wearing a thong XD), I made it my goal for the weekend to get a clear yet candid shot of him from behind before the weekend was over. ¬u¬ We wanted some pics of ourselves glomping him too, but we kinda knew from the start that wouldn't really pan out... >v<

Anywhooo... first real event we went to was Name That Anime Tune, where songs from anime and video games were played and some contestants were, naturally, supposed to guess what series or game the songs were from. I knew a total of, oh, 3 or so. :P Hmm... after that we went to an anime fan version of Whose Line is it Anyway, but it was kinda boring so we left early and went to check out the karaoke open mic thing next door. Fun was had. Then we decided to go to a suite party hosted by Luke and Scott of Dub This!, but after a few minutes someone from the hotel said the max occupancy for their suite was 8, so we had to clear out. But fortunately we each got to sample a Lemon Fanfic first. I feel so complete... :3 Anyway, so then we hung out with Luke and Scott and some other fans in the lobby for a while, then we checked out the AMV screening, where they show fan-made videos of anime clips compiled together with popular (or not so popular) songs. This and open mic night went on pretty much all night, and we wanted to stay for more, but we decided to go see a new anime movie instead. Kochira, or Kochikame something-or-other, it was called. And after it ended, we both wished we'd stayed at the AMV screening instead. :P Sooo, after that we called a cab, got home around 2:30 am, and went to bed.

Saturday we got up kinda late, so we arrived at the hotel a bit after 1 pm and hit the Q&A session featuring Megatokyo's Fred Gallagher and Dom (Fred is too cute! he even got all slouchy and embarrassed when people complimented him... true Piro style XD), and then we hit the dealer's room. I didn't buy as much as I'd hoped to, really - only the new Megatokyo comic, the first 2 issues of the Clover manga, an Utena paper doll booklet (ooo, rare merch~), and the first five Kimba the White Lion OVAs. And toward the end of the dealer's room we found Kuja again, thus resuming my quest to get a candid shot of him from behind. X3;;; But I missed my chance again, so then we got in line to get Fred Gallagher's autograph. That took over an hour x_x, mainly because Fred was drawing little sketches of everyone's favorite characters along with his autograph, and those who asked for Dom's too had to wait for him to go through the first few pages crossing out all the typos. *giggle* Dom's so cute~ So by then it was like, 5:00, and we'd skipped lunch, so we hopped over to Johnny Rocket's for dinner. Mmmm, I heart their chili fries. After that the dealer's room closed, so we didn't get to buy anything else (except later from Artist's Alley), so we hit the line for seating for the Cosplay Showcase. I don't think I've ever seen a line that long for anything before. x__x Cosplay showcase was great, though. Got some more nice pics there. Aaaand after that, we were sitting around in the hallway taking a break before calling the cab home for the last time... and who should walk by one last time but Kuja. And lucky me happened to have one photo left on my roll. And VERY few other people were in that area. So as soon as he walked by us, I jumped up and snapped that perfect photo I'd been waiting for all weekend. d>v
No, seriously... it was really cool... the first pic I took was Kuja doing his little people-have-been-asking-for-my-pic-all-day-so-I-know-the-drill pose, full front, and the last one I took was of Kuja from behind leaving for the night. It was so appropriate. Seriously. 9u9;

Man, I'm gonna hang that thong shot up under the semi-nekkid Reno on my wardrobe at the foot of my bed as soon as I get those suckers developed. >U<

So... after that we went home, watched some anime, snacked, and went to bed. And today Dumplin' went home pretty early, so neither of us went back to the con. Nothing cool going on anyway... all the fun stuff was on Friday and Saturday. It was a highly enjoyable experience. I really hope all my pictures turn out. I got good ones. I love the camera dad gave me. ^^v

Oh, and after all that worrying about the COTA schedules and stuff, we only ended up using bus routes once; the rest of our trips were made by taxi or my uncle. Can't complain about that though, really. My dad might pay me back for the cab rides... he felt kinda bad that we were stuck either spending 2 hours on a bus to get there/back on COTA's time (which means we would've had to leave the con hours earlier than we'd wanted to if we wanted to catch the last bus) or spending $25 per taxi ride.

Anyway, it was fun. I can't wait to get my film developed. *wiggle*
