feeling: unnaturally good... which makes me suspicious
listening to: Dir en Grey - Engirys Cimredoyph... yay for Kyo-rap!
Wow. Despite this morning's agonizingly long international studies class, the stupid ab cramps, and the hurty dream I had last night involving hypodermic needles and quite a bit of pain *cringe*, this has been a pretty good day.
First of all, I'm wearing one of those outfits that actually fits and looks fairly good on me. Well, when I suck in my gut, anyway.
Second, I stepped outside this morning and was just shellshocked by how BEAUTIFUL it was out there. The temperature was perfect, sunny, blue sky, few clouds, very light breeze, couldn't have been better. Of course, this was about 9 in the morning, so very soon it will top 80 degrees and thus be too hot. Sigh. But anyway, yeah, so it was a nice walk outside.
Third, while walking past Mirror Lake, I saw for the first time in at least a year our breeding pair of wood ducks. Yay! ^_^ *has missed the pretty birdies* I wonder what became of their little family from last year...
Fourth, I had to stop by the library to print my international studies outline, and for the first time in God knows how long, I had NO trouble. I got in, there was no line for a computer, I sat, I put in the disk and it WORKED, I clicked print, the thing actually accepted the print command on the first try, the print station was working like it's supposed to, the printer was online, I even got it all stapled together. Yatta. :P And all this done in great time, so I actually got to class early for once.
Fifth, my little oral presentation about my Thailand research paper plan went better than I expected. Namely, I expected the professor to jump all over my data and hypotheses and tell me I was all wrong and had to completely rebuild my nexus or something, or to at least ask me buttloads of questions that he knew I wouldn't be able to answer just to make me feel even more in over my head than I already do. But he didn't. He asked maybe two questions, small ones that I was perfectly capable of answering immediately and correctly. Of course, the rest of the 2-hour class was about the most agonizing span of time I've ever had to sit through (just like it is every other Tuesday and Thursday)... but to help kill time, I doodled a little Zomutt head in my notes. I never get to margin doodle anymore. Plus, Zomutts ROCK. I own one. ^^ Happy joy.
Sixth, class ended - a joy in itself - and I walked outside into that beautiful weather again.
Seventh, I got a mochaccino (I defy anyone to spell that better!) smoothie from Mirror Lake and it was SO freaking good. *float*
Eighth, I got home and checked my mailbox, and found an envelope from the Arts and Sciences office containing a pamphlet with full information for graduates and guests regarding spring commencement. It's official - I'm graduating. *_* And of course several things in the pamphlet made me go squee... the fact that I received it, the fact that there's no limit on guests I can invite (so, to anyone who wants to come watch me graduate: come! :D), and most of all, the fact that each college has its graduates wear a different color tassel, and I had a blast reading through the colors. Enjoy it with me:
Graduate School (Ph.D.): grey; others black

~College of the Arts (BA, BSID): white; others: brown

Fun, no? Business grads get drab! *points and laughs*
Anyway... ninth, I just turned on my Dir en Grey playlist. Only 35 tracks... must beef it up... but I'm in a Diru mood. *wiggles foot to the lovely*
And then I started typing this blog. I'm going to treat the majority of the rest of this day as a Friday, because today feels like a Friday for some reason. That means I'm going to screw around and get nothing accomplished, basically. ^^ And later I'm gonna go to the Marketplace and get one of those 5 or 6 remaining entrees I have yet to try that I'm dying to try. Maybe the curry chicken wrap... or classic Reuben panini... man, Marketplace rocks.
*headbangs to Diru*
I'm done for now. It's nice to be able to post a happy rant now and then. Of course, now for the rest of the day I'll be going around with shifty eyes just waiting for life to go horribly wrong. Maybe that lion that broke loose in town a few days ago will find and maul me when I'm en route to the Marketplace... lol, but then again, even that would be pretty darn cool. How many college students and city dwellers can say they were mauled by a lion on their way to pick up dinner? :P
