feeling: slightly tired listening to: nothing
Saw the coolest thing this evening. Seems a mama raccoon and her four fluffy little babies have made a home somewhere in our backyard (keep in mind our backyard is about half forest), and they all emerged tonight long enough for me and my parents to watch them for a good while through the patio door. First the mama started digging at... something... at the top of the hill just outside the woods, and I don't know what she uncovered, but she and her babies all went nuts as she dug at it. They pounced and hopped and batted and swiped at the air as though a swarm of bees or something had sprung out of the ground... but we know for a fact there's no sort of hive in that area at all. >.o Anyway, then they continued along the ridge just on our side of the treeline toward our hanging birdfeeder, where at first they seemed content to forage for dropped seeds beneath it, but then one of the babies actually climbed right up the metal pole it hangs from to munch on seed from the feeder itself. Smart little beastie. o.o Anyway, mom gets all annoyed when anything that's not a bird eats from that feeder (you should see how she scares squirrels out of it >>), so she made dad knock on the glass door, which effectively scared them all and they bolted back into the woods. : Was so cool though. Raccoons are pretty. <3 I tried to snatch some pictures of the family with my digital camera, but it didn't go well. Partly because it was too dark outside, and partly because the zoom didn't reach far enough and I couldn't remember how to set it to take distant shots. >> I took 7 or 8 pictures and only one came out looking anything like a raccoon. *sigh* Oh well... perhaps they'll be back...
In other news (new to this blog anyway, if old hat to everyone else), I finally got a new CDROM drive over the weekend. It's lovely. I can't even hear it when it's running, which is just amazing to me after my old one had a habit of buzzing like crazy. And best of all, I can play The Sims again. :D Been way too long since I last played that game. And thankfully, all my old game data from before the Great Reformat of January '05 was successfully backed up and restored, so I could pick up right where I left off. ^_____^ I also finally got around to taking screenshots of all the adoptable cats and dogs in the Unleashed expansion, so I can actually decide which pet I want for which family before I waste a day in Old Town choosing, naming, and adopting one. *s-m-r-t*
And I should be updating this thing more... but meh... been clinging to my LJ lately for some reason. I think people are starting to forget about this old blog anyway. Wouldn't surprise me, it's been around since the end of 2001. And I've made... how many other journals since then? Let's see... Livejournal, Blurty, My-Diary, Diaryland, and my MSN Space... and that's not counting my BLOOD-only and translations blogs, or my AIM subprofile, which I don't update anymore (can't even access it now >< can anyone else?). Also not counting the Friendster and Myspace blogs I never update and only signed up for so I could stalk my kitty. >> << So yeah... guess all the newer journals are sort of taking priority. A few of them anyway. Most of them I rarely touch. But they're there. Heh, I have too many journals. Maybe if I link this blog in my AIM profile it'll get traffic again... >>
And wow, I'm rambly tonight. I could've summed up this entire post as "Recent cool events: I saw a mama raccoon and her four babies today but couldn't take good pictures, and I got a new CDROM drive so I can play Sims again. Oh, and sorry for not posting here that much anymore." >> Oh well... since when am I good at summing things up?
Anyway... just watched 3 episodes of the British Whose Line on Comedy Central. I really need to start taping that show when the opportunity arises. :\ Of course, they also need to play the really old episodes again, cause I want them on tape more than the newer ones. For some reason they've only been showing the most recent seasons lately, mostly the 10th season episodes filmed in Hollywood, which were the beginning of the show's downhill spiral. I can't remember the last time I saw the air the really old reruns with Tony Slattery and Paul Merton and Sandi Toksvig (pretend that's spelled right) and all those classics... even Josie Lawrence is rare anymore... *sigh*
...No wonder this blog is disintigrating into nothingness. Look at all this pointless random babble. >> Oh well... better than no post at all. Or is it? Don't answer that.
