feeling: twitchy listening to: a five year old monster screeching downstairs
GAH. I'm an idiot.
I woke up today after leaving Soulseek on overnight to find that someone downloaded ALL of my finished D no Arashi translation files. All 110 of them. I sent a message begging her to not share or post them elsewhere, but she was offline by then and gah... who can tell what lows people will stoop to anymore?
It's my own fault for keeping the bloody things in my shared folder, though. I even realized that a couple weeks ago, but didn't move them when I first thought to, and now someone's yoinked them and will probably keep them in her shared folder for other people to steal, and from there... *spazzes* Pleeeeeease have some respect, people... I've put almost a year into these darn things...
So now I have a checklist of the things I need to do to TRY and keep this from happening again, and to keep other people from taking credit for my work. Two are already done, of course. I've already messaged the user who took them and begged her for decency, and I also moved the files to an unshared folder. Next I need to start uploading the files to my translations LJ in a friend-filtered manner so that I can at least say they were on MY computer and MY accounts before anyone else's (and also for backup purposes). Also, I guess I'm gonna have to... *cringe* join the Arashi fandom... to keep an eye on the users-only forums and communities wherein translated goods tend to be restricted. Ugh, fangirl central. -_- Can't hurt to keep an eye on Youtube for translated DnA episodes either. And finally, I need to get my butt in gear and finish these last 6 episodes ASAP so I can start hardsubbing before anyone else tries it. >>
*sigh* I'm an idiot. After a million losses and close calls, you'd think by now I would've learned how to keep my files safely stored...
On a related note, I've started using the Korean p2p site Clubbox to grab some videos that don't seem to be available anywhere else (Tensai! Shimura Doubutsuen being top priority *.*)... but apparently it's point-based, so I need to get points somehow if I want to download anything in decent time. ¬_¬ But I guess that's kinda convenient, because if I understood right you get download points for uploading files, so when I get my DnA hardsubs done (and any other hardsubs I might attempt), I can upload them there. It does seem fairly exclusive and secure compared to other methods of sharing. Probably because it's all in Korean and most people can't figure out how to use it. >> It took me months just to reach the point of creating an account...
Soooo that's that. In other news, my nose hurts. *pout*
