That's right, I have every Miyavi song there is now. Playlisted. I like him, dangit. He's conceited as fark, but he's a dork, and a cute dork at that. And all of his song lyrics sound JUST like something I'd expect to find in the mini-journal he keeps on his website, which is hilarious. The man makes some unique music, you gotta give him that.
Ahaha. I typed up a blog a few days ago, probably early Saturday, and was cheesed at Blogger when for some reason it didn't post. Then just last night, for no apparent reason, I checked out my BLOOD blog... and voila, there it was, perched right on top of my Fanime review. I blogged on the wrong blog. >_>;;;
Oh well. Wasn't of much importance anyway. So into the land of deletion it went.
And I've been feeling all weirdly motivated these past few days. There have been at least half a dozen specific art things I've wanted to attempt, a couple of Photoshop projects, and even poetry, for Bob's sake. Then today, in between cleaning the fish tanks (on time for once) and working on two of those half a dozen art things, I actually studied kanji - reviewed a total of 150 - and worked on a poster I was making for Dumplin' and her soon-to-be anime club. And later tonight I still need to finish this week's translations and email them to Kiwamu. Doesn't sound like much, but for me that's a full freakin' day. >.>; I hope this isn't the onset of that cabin fever thing I rambled about in my last post, because that would mean I have to start looking for a job. T_T
Something just reminded me... some time ago I was talking with Calla and having AIM problems at the same time, and she said she hadn't gotten any messages from me over a period of... 15 or 20 minutes, maybe. So I said oh well, there wasn't anything really important in there anyway. And in response she said "everything you say is important." And I bet every one of you reading this right now is snorting at that comment. >:P But yeah, anyway... I dunno, apparently that was... amusing to me, or something. Since I remembered it and all.
I'm gonna go continue doing stuff now. Adjaa.

I think I feel a cold coming on. First one since December. I've NEVER made it that long without being sick one way or another. So I suppose I should be strangely satisfied...
And I think I'm gonna have to start looking into the band Schwarz Stein. Morgen played one of their songs during the debut of her visual kei radio show tonight, and I liked it. The vocalist reminded me of a cross between Fu-ki of BLOOD and Juka of Moi Dix Mois. Which is funny, because most people say Juka sounds like a clone of Gackt... and the rest say he sounds like the love child of Gackt and Klaha... *ahem* Anyway... yes. Need to look into Schwarz Stein.
More fun news... it appears a new costume has been added to my cosplay arsenal for the coming Ohayocon. I will be Kaede, I will be a random vampire... and now, I will also be Takeshi. The seduction master himself (see post below XD). And Calla will be Taichi. This is going to be the best convention ever. XD
Hmm... I guess I'm going to town with my parents tomorrow so I can finally get a stinking debit card. And so I can actually activate and use my bank account, because apparently they don't have my signature on file since it's been sitting there since I was born, so they need to watch me sign some paper so I can withdraw money and junk. Then I can buy a money order and send away for BLOOD stuff. And make my own Paypal account so I can raid eBay. And get a debit card so I can pay for my Ohayocon costume materials and stuff. That big check I got from my BuckID account is not going to last very long. >.>;; Of course, the plan was for me to have a job by, like, winter... but... anyone see that happening? Yeah, me either. I figured I'd just wait until I started getting cabin fever, which usually happens around early September every year... but no signs of its onset so far... so I'll probably have to start hunting whether I want to or not. I'm not ready for work yet. Any work. I don't know enough Japanese to get a job that uses it, but I know too much Japanese to get some generic job and let my diploma go to waste. I could take fifth year Japanese this coming year 2 days a week, but that would mean 1) paying for the class and 2) paying for 2 round trips to Columbus every week, which would kinda make me need a job even sooner. Vicious cycles. Ain't life grand?
That said... rant time. Turn back now, thou faint of stomach.
I'm really glad I became a BLOOD fan. I actually feel like I'm part of something, and like I matter, which is a feeling I've only had once before and lost before I even had a chance to enjoy it. But since I joined this fandom, not only have I found new friends who I actually share a lot of mutual trust with, but I've found a way to contribute to something I enjoy and make a difference, if even a small one. By that I mean my translations, for the slow out there. :P BLOOD's website's English corners are updated every week thanks to me, and all email newsletters Kiwamu sends out now are in both Japanese and English thanks to me, and the fandom has access to translations of almost all of BLOOD's songs, thanks partly to me. Not to mention the new ordering instructions, the vampire poem/Raison D'etre, and a few other things. I love doing it, I learn Japanese in the process, and I actually get to maintain direct contact with my favorite band. Which means I actually know what's going on with the band and am actually among the first to know about new things going on with them, and that I even get to make that information available to the rest of the fandom on a weekly basis (or more). Plus, I know about as much about this band - history, news, releases, member info, etc - as any other fan out there (excluding the ones who are actually on staff or something). Every other fandom I've been in, I always felt like the newbie, no matter how long I stuck around. Everyone knew twice as much as me or more. Not so with BLOOD. I don't have all the insider info that staff members and Japanese fans and Roxanne (:P) have, but for a "normal fan," I'm very up on what's going on. I love that feeling... knowing what's going on so I don't feel like an idiot, being a translator so I can make information and lyrics available to the rest of the fans... and I even know the band itself appreciates me. The other day Kiwamu emailed me saying "Thanks for always sending me the corners. I'm really happy that that i'm able to upload them every week." As opposed to before, when Lauren would only do her job about once in 3 weeks or so, and she didn't translate the newsletters, either. How many people out there can say their favorite band/artist knows them by name and face,and really appreciates them? Even confides in them? (yes, Kiwamu ranted at me again... this is becoming strangely regular... O_o) Anyway, I'm getting repetitive.
But I'd love this fandom even without any credit, inside information, or direct appreciation. Because the best part of all of this is that I've made friends. People who share my interest in BLOOD, who I can talk to about the band and its music and not feel left out or uncomfortable. We even like the same aspects of the band in a lot of cases. Example - Calla and I squee over fanservice together, while just about anyone else I might talk to would be freaked out by the fact that we're amused by it (of course me and Dumplin' do the same thing, but that's a given, and this rant is about new friends I met through BLOOD, not just the ones I've known and loved all my life, BLOOD or not ^^;;). That's just one example... and the great thing is that a lot of these friends actually live in Ohio, between me and Columbus even... so I can (and do) actually spend time with them. Most of the rest live in other states but I've met them and am almost sure to meet them again; there're only a slight few exceptions.
I don't know why exactly I became a BLOOD fan. Before Ohayocon '04 I only had slight interest in J-rock, and a lot of the visual kei universe actually disturbed me. Even when I heard that this real visual kei band, BLOOD, would be playing at Ohayocon, I wasn't expecting much. Only planned to attend their concert because it was Japanese music and I liked Japanese music (though most of that was J-pop at the time). But by the end of their set I was a hardcore fan, and history was in the making. I left the con and increased my J-rock/visual kei knowledge, interest, and collection by huge leaps and bounds... but BLOOD is still on top of my list. My life would be next to empty right now if I hadn't fallen for this band. I don't know what it was that put me in the mindset to be attracted to their music and style on that weekend, but whatever it was, I owe it my all. Because I'm actually happy again, and I have friends again, and I feel wanted again... all thanks to BLOOD.
And yeah... I don't really expect a lot of people to understand all this, since this is the one journal/blog I maintain (out of 5) that I don't think anyone in the BLOOD fandom reads. But I wanted to get that out. If no one read it or cared, oh well. At least Dumplin' did. And maybe next I'll be able to post something similar to this in my Livejournal or Blurty too, so that Calla, Suz, Roxanne, Kristin, Connie, and the other BLOOD fans who've made me feel welcome in this fandom will know too.
Ok... I got that out of my system. Segue to rant #2. 9_9
I want everyone who reads this and cares to know that I'm doing my best to stay down-to-earth and not get carried away with my roles in the fandom and in the band's progress. But I know I brag sometimes. Like now for instance. >_>;; But I've seen worse since I joined this fandom. I've seen people who enjoy even higher standing with BLOOD and their fandom than I do, who have ended up getting the idea that they're more important than all the other fans, and even that they're somehow responsible for the band's future and well-being. Which may actually be true in some cases, but not when it gets to the point where they think their points of view concerning the band are more important than those of the band themselves. Not when it gets to the point where they try to keep other fans from helping the band in any way possible. Being part of this fandom is not about status... it's about supporting BLOOD. My role as a translator does not mean my opinions have priority over those of Kiwamu, or of any other member or fan. I work for Kiwamu, not the other way around... and I know more than one person who has seemingly forgotten this arrangement. And I have seen the feelings of people I care about being hurt in ways I don't even like to think about, and I don't even want to entertain the possibility of ever doing that to anyone myself.
And that's why I ask you, dear reader, to make sure that I do not let my place in the BLOOD fandom get to my head. If I start to go on and on about the band or my translations or anything to that effect while I'm talking to you, making you feel the least bit annoyed or left out or hurt, stop me. Put me in my place. I don't want to turn into those people. I like where I stand right now - I feel no need to fly any higher or crawl any lower. Of course... flying higher would be nice :P... but I don't need to. I'll do what's asked of me, I'll do the best I can, and I'll remember who I answer to (BLOOD) and who answers to me (no one).
I should quit now while I'm ahead. I commend anyone who actually read all this. And I leave you with pictures of Takeshi so you can see the other cosplay I'll be doing. :3

Though I've only finished the Deathcom video, and I'd probably get better quality shots from the other version... but... whatever.
I have 140 screens total. All are uploaded to a password-protected Photobucket account, which I will share with anyone who asks me for it. But the pics I post here will only be of Kaede, just for a sense of what I'll be cosplaying in January. Though, I might decide to throw in a shot or two of the other members too, just as teasers... we'll see. Anyway, here's some Kaede~
Here we see the skirt of doom. x.x The thing is proving impossible to replicate. It is available for sale through the Gothic Lolita Bible - I saw it in the issue Little Kristin bought at Fanime - but I don't know if they ship to the US, and it probably costs an arm and a leg anyway.

I found a site that has just about all the J-rock music and PVs and clips and other goodies I could ever ask for (not really all, but darn close), so I've been working the poor piece of junk to overload downloading from there. Gotta fill up these new 80 gigs with something. ^^

My Moon Child download finished, but I can't get the subtitles to show up.
Still working on concert screenshots. The count has exceeded 100 and I'm still not even finished with the Deathcom version.
Learned last week that the vampire story/poem thing that Kiwamu had me translate last month and used in his official site's new intro movie HAS been turned into a new/future BLOOD song, called Raison D'etre. Don't know if he used the Japanese or English version though.

Ok. I just spent HOURS on a post - in between talking to people here and there, but still - and my computer destroyed it. AGAIN. This is getting old. But I'm going to try to recall as much of it as I can, because it was a good one. For me. For this summer. >.>
So I'm ticked off at Blogger and this new navbar thing they decided to stick on all free-hosted blogs. I don't mind it being there so much, but the stupid thing cuts off, like, an inch from the top of my blog. Like, the black header on that little box in the upper left corner, where my blog title and description are... half of the black header is hidden behind that navbar, so all I can see is "Know But Are Reading Anyway" as a title. >_< I also miss those related search banners... I was getting some good ones there... gah.
Anyway, Fu-ki's birthday gift fanart is done and sent. It's nowhere near what I wanted to do for him... didn't even take that much effort or thought -_-;;... but I hope he at least gets a laugh out of it. *sigh* Maybe I'll think of something better to make into a Christmas gift... AND actually take the time I need to work on it... but yeah, the gift. I sent it to Kiwamu along with this week's corners and a couple other random comments, and I asked him to pass it along to Fu-ki either Thursday or Friday, since his birthday is Friday... and Kiwamu hasn't replied to me yet... and I'm hoping that's because he's waiting until he gets a reply from Fu-ki about the gift. Like I said, it's not much at all... but I guess it's fun to look at, so once I know that Fu-ki's seen it, I'll probably post or link it here. Or you can AIM me if you want to see it, and I'll send it to you there. Or whatever.
Speaking of BLOOD in image form, I'm still working on completing those screenshots. I'm about 2/3 through the Deathcom video and haven't started on the newer one. And still trying to figure out how and where to upload them. They won't go on my regular Photobucket account, because it's public, and Kiwamu has the link. And a lot of the screenshots have the Deathcom logo on them, which marks them as taken from an... illegally distributed source, in Kiwamu's opinion. He said anyone was free to tape the concert, but apparently sending it around online is illegal. But anyway... so since he has the link to my regular photo account, it's best if I put the screenies in a different one. But they'll come. I'm getting there.
On a related note, my BLOOD demo tapes came in today, and I'm loving them. Like, lots. ^_^ Nothing like rare merchandise that's been sold out on the official site for ages, and fans who decide one day to clear out their old collections.
On an unrelated note, I seem to be in the habit of putting up away messages on AIM for no reason other than I just don't feel like talking. Because recently I often find myself in these self-loathing funks where I can't bring myself to talk to all the people on my list who I like, but who I can't ever think of anything to talk about with. So if you see a random away stuck next to my SN, don't worry, I'm not hiding from you or anyone else in particular. Just hiding from the world as a whole until I feel I'm somewhat capable of keeping up with it again. I still love y'all, trust me.

There's a reason I haven't gotten around to the promised screenshots yet. That reason goes like this: I took a screenshot. Then another. Then another. Then it happened - I managed to snap one of those "happy accidents." You know, the pics you don't mean to take, but that turn out funnier than the ones you took on purpose. And from that one on, I was hooked. And I have therefore made it my new Current Project to take as many spiffy screenshots from these Ohayocon concert videos as possible. So far I've cleared the first part (of three) of the Deathcom version, and currently I have 29 screens sitting happily in their own folder. I WILL post some of the good Kaede ones as a preview of my cosplay, as promised.
In other news, I got Ragnarok Online again, but only a 15 day trial. Sort of a celebration of the fact that I finally got my second hard drive, 80 untouched gigabytes, last weekend. Also in celebration of that, I'm currently downloading Moon Child, which I've been DYING to see for I have no idea how long now. I would just as happily claim ownership of the DVD, but 1) it's not something you're likely to find in Best Buy, being Japanese, and 2) it's ridiculously expensive.
I have 4 days left in which to start and finish Fu-ki's birthday present. I suck. >_< if I put hours and hours into this thing and then find out he doesn't care about the Fukigen mascot anymore, heads will roll. Roll, I say.
I really need to start sleeping at night again, as opposed to in the morning and early afternoon. This summer's even worse than last - I've been staying up till dawn and sleeping till 2 p.m. or later. Don't get me wrong, I love getting lots of sleep... just not when it means I miss out on half of my daylight hours. A good sleep schedule for me would be around 3 a.m. to 11 a.m. every day. Not too early, not too late, on either end.
And now I want to either continue grabbing screenshots or start on Fu-ki's giftie. Hmmm. I'm thinking screenshots. Mainly because I left off on part 2. And we aaaaaaallll love part 2. ^u^
And if anyone has ever heard of a J-pop and/or anime song called Love Motion and knows who sang it or what it's from, DANGITALL FOR THE LOVE OF GOD TELL MEEEEEE!!! Becky needs that song like a dung beetle needs elephants. T___T

I think Kiwamu ranted at me a little bit in his most recent email. He's been royally cheesed at the people organizing the live show they were supposed to give in Poland, and it got to the point where he cancelled the show and is going to perform in Berlin on that day instead. But when he sent me the newest newsletter to translate this morning, he also went into "This deal with Poland really sucks... is it normal for show promoters to be like that?? I couldn't believe it..." when he should've known I had nooo clue what exactly happened with said promoters.
I repeat: O_o
Still, I'm kind of honored that he chose to unload that on me... lol.
Anyway... I don't feel I'm breaking any unspoken confidentiality codes by posting about how cheesed he was. Those who understand Japanese can check his current Poison entry to see why. Those who can't, can wait and check it in one week. I'm gonna have a lovely time translating it. O_o;;; *pats Kiwamu on the head* Yoshi, yoshi... nantoka naru darou...
Oh, on that note, I guess I'm now the official... uh, person translating BLOOD's member corners every week. He asked me yet again if I'd do them every week, but "for good" this time, not a just-in-case thing like it's been for the past month or so. Don't know exactly what Lauren will still be doing for him, but it won't be the corners. Hehe... I remember back in April when he first emailed me asking for help with the corners... I was so disturbingly giddy that week :P I had no idea at the time that I'd end up doing not only occasional corners, but WEEKLY corners, all newsletters, some notices and ordering instructions and stuff for their site, some business-ish emails (those were fun times... fun in a bang-your-head-on-the-keyboard-till-it-bleeds kinda way XD)...
...and possibly the coolest of all, a poem thing that ended up being incorporated into the intro movie on the homepage. Click the logo. See my translation. ^^ (That, by the way, is the first glimpse into their new image, which has been released... need the 3 new photosets... need them bad...)
The text in the movie isn't the whole poem though... just a few lines. I'm really hoping he does something or other with the whole poem someday, because it was really gorgeous. I still feel all touched and snooty-proud that he trusted me with translating that sweet, sweet piece of work. Already fans have been drooling over it on the BBS and mailing lists... if only they could see it in its entirety... dude, wouldn't it be freaky if he ended up using it as lyrics for their next single or something...? *_*
I would so die. I'd squee myself to death. XD;;
*ahem* Anyway... heh, sorry this blog is so BLOOD-oriented of late. But I'd rather not put this stuff in my LJ, as most of my readers there are BLOOD fans who have freakin' HUGE friend lists full of other fans including people on official BLOOD staff... and I'm not sure I want that kind of audience reading my BLOOD rants. But to my knowledge, all but one of my readers here could care less about BLOOD, which for some reason makes it easier. Kinda like how it's supposed to be easier to give big performances in front of audiences you've never seen before, as opposed to in front of people you've known all your life and will continue to know long enough for them to hold it against you. Or something. I guess. >.>

feeling: too tired

Relatively uneventful week, surprise surprise. Even the nephew hasn't been here since early Monday. So why am I this tired? It's barely midnight and I want to go to bed. Maybe stuff did happen this week and I was just too out of it to take any notice, I dunno.
Seem to be in another one of those funks, though. Not depressed, not hurting or anything like that... just kinda numb to everything. My mind's even less awake than it usually is, which is saying something. I know if I go on with this unintended retreat back into my warm little shell, I'll only end up driving everyone away again, and I've been through that enough in the past several years... so I'm trying to at least maintain conversations when they occur and such, but I'm probably not having much success... so if I seem unusually distant or quiet, I apologize. Not sure what the deal is this time.
One interesting thing though... I stepped on a scale today for the first time in 3 years, and if it's accurate, I've lost over 40 pounds in the past year and a half. Doesn't seem right to me, but my dad thinks it is. Bleh. Doesn't really matter, because with the way I've been eating and slothing around the house 24/7 all summer, I'll be back to my old poundage by year's end.
That's about it... I want to go lie down now but I don't want to...
